Skin Fillers

Do you have any of these?

Nose to Mouth Lines

Frown Lines

Volume Loss

Lip lines

Have you noticed your cheeks losing volume or dark hollows developing below your eyes? Perhaps you have deep lines extending from the corners of your nose and/or mouth that are making you look tired and unhappy?

Although losing volume, particularly around the cheeks, eyes and mouth, is a natural part of the ageing process, we all want to see the age we feel inside when looking in the mirror. Women, in particular, are subject to the signs of ageing when compared to men who tend to have thicker, better hydrated skin and higher levels of collagen.

A range of facial skin fillers can all help restore lost volume and add youthful definition to your face. They are beneficial, safe and worthwhile treatments when performed by a suitably trained and experienced expert in a safe and caring environment. We are happy to be able to declare to date, we have had no significant adverse filler complications in our clinics.

Skin fillers Frequently Asked Questions

We use hyaluronic acid fillers exclusively in our clinics, offering carefully selected and reputable brands, including Juvederm, Belotero, Teosyl, Restylane, Emerval and Perfectha. These products are generally interchangeable, although the concentration of hyaluronic acid in the product and in the type of cross linking that is used to stabilise the product, varies across the different brands.

One of the many advantages of Hyaluronic acid skin fillers is that they have an excellent safety record. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar and is found in all living organisms, including the human skin, which is composed of 60% hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid treatments are non-permanent, biodegradable and biocompatible, which means that the risk of rejection by the body’s own defence mechanism is very minimal and very rare.

If the treatment did need immediate reversal for any reason, we have at our disposal an enzyme called Hyaluronidase, which can be used to breakdown the hyaluronic filler in approximately 24 hours. Our patients tell us that knowing this option exists gives them peace of mind.

For these reasons, we have chosen to exclusively use hyaluronic acid fillers, although there are other filler materials that have a good safety record.

When you come to either of the Chiltern Medical Clinics, your skin filler treatment will be carried out by a qualified medical doctor. We have more than 12 years’ experience in using this type of filler material and have treated thousands of patients over this time. Our approach is a conservative one that has proved to be safe and successful.

The art or science of facial re-contouring and rejuvenation has changed and progressed rapidly in the last 10 years and our founder, Dr Munnelly, has been a very active member of that process. He has travelled to many international conferences, events, meetings and workshops during that time and has received training from some of the world leaders in the field of cosmetic medicine and surgery. He is therefore very much at the forefront of current practices and trends, which feeds through to the practice, and is often one of a handful of UK practitioners at these events.

Hyaluronic acid skin fillers are excellent for restoring lost volume and adding definition around the nose, mouth, cheek and chin areas of the face. In addition, our doctors have mastered the techniques of safe and effective treatment to difficult and complex areas of the face, such as the temples, eyebrows and tear trough, to achieve very effective improvements in the facial contours in a safe manner. They have also grasped the use of cannulas/blunt needles to make these treatments safer and often less painful, with minimal risk of bruising or intravascular injection.

The use of hyaluronic acid filler material in this way has revolutionised the way we approach the ageing face and has provided the possibility to achieve outstanding improvements in facial contour without the need for surgery.

Unfortunately, many of us may have come across pictures of ‘botched’ treatments. Celebrity websites feature galleries of the rich and famous with their overfilled lips and cheeks, and permanently surprised expressions. It is this fear that holds many back from receiving this treatment.

We very much view these cases as extreme and disfiguring over-treatments that are not reflective of the beautiful enhancements skin fillers can achieve in the right hands. Unquestionably, our focus is on achieving natural results by restoring volume loss in facial compartments, which is a natural occurrence in ageing. We want you to leave your treatment looking refreshed, rejuvenated and subtly enhanced, rather than unrecognisable and overblown.

We also want you to feel safe knowing that you are being treated by a highly qualified and extensively experienced doctor in a clinical setting that is regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

We understand that, in many ways, choosing the right doctor to administer your treatment is a leap of faith. We are delighted that so many patients have been returning to us for treatment over a period of years. It’s also a massive vote of confidence that they recommend us to their friends and family too.

We offer the initial free consultation so that you can come into one of our friendly clinics and ask questions, get to know us and we can build the trust that is an important component of any medical or cosmetic treatment.
